Lanvin at Work

From the Lanvin S2011 RTW Collection, my Top 5 favourites. I can already imagine wearing these on a work-day.

Numero # 1 - The Big Pitch
Round 1- after your speech. The real fight starts the moment you ask "Any Questions?".  The metal plates in this outfit protects you from all incoming bullets.

Numero # 2 - Confused Wednesday
Wednesday sucks(atleast for me), its neither here nor there.  An outfit for the mid-week syndrome.

Numero # 3 - Lunch with Client
Casual lunch with your beloved clients is so much fun.  Don't you wish you can stay out of the office the whole day? This outfit says it all -  "I am free for a looooong lunch and maybe we can go see that shoes you have been eyeing on after...hmm"

Numero # 4 - "Press Check"
Identifying yourself with machine operators can be an advantage. Talking CMYK in a stylishly rugged look would most likely do the trick.

Numero # 5 - No to Late Fridays
Give us a break. It's Friday! No OTs! The shawl-like drapes would be a good alternative for a whip, to get people to do things fast-fast by strangulation. Ha-ha!

Kidding aside, I'd die to own one of them...granted ofcourse, it looks nice on me. *ahem*

Week's Investment

Nothing really exciting happened to the Chimp's life this week.  Here is a summary of some of the Chimps's purchases this week.

Investment # 1 | Ratings: 7/10
Inspired by the Korean TV Series "Pasta", now I have a sudden interest in cooking.  Let's give the enthusiasm a few weeks... he-he

Skillet, Thong & Spatula

Investment # 2 | Ratings: 4/10
Recipes to go along with my first investment.  Just because it's Jamie Oliver's. As if the free Epicurious App, which offers over 1000 recipes is not enough.

Jamie Oliver's 20-Minute Meals

Investment # 3 | Ratings: 9/10.
Visited the Oriental Herbal Tea shop to grab a drink for my cough. The trade off was walking to the nearby mall under the scorching mid-day heat.

Chuan Bei Almond Tea

Investment # 4 | Ratings: 10/10
Visited Dr. Shan on Friday to get some meds. Anti-biotics seemed to be kicking in nicely. Coincidentally, I started using my Manfaktura mug from Prague - finally!

Ciprobay, Bisolvon & Cough Syrup

Investment # 5 | Ratings: 5/10
Feiyue sneakers on bargain; S$30 a pair, normal price S$99.  But do I really need another pair of sneaks?

Feiyue Sneakers

Investment # 6 | Ratings: 10/10
3 Pajama Shorts. Time to replace the old ones.

P-J's from Cotton On

Just came back from Forever 21, bought some new accessories and a dress.  All of which are non-essentials.  Did not bother snapping some photos...

Proven to be a cheap week after all! Love it!

Sneakers Galore

For someone whose not collecting sneakers, I feel so guilty - 13 pairs.  I trashed about 4 pairs in good condition last week out of guilt.  Guilty for having too much.  It's a disease that comes out when I feel like I have too much of one thing.

So which pair will go to trash next?... sad. But I really do not have anymore space in my Bodega! :)

And if you see me wearing sneakers on meetings...don't wonder why?!

Inside My Bag

My handbag is always heavy, I always try to minimize the things to bring out but it seems like every little thing is an essential. Sigh!

So today, after the morning "I am not bringing this, this & this...", this is what I ended up bringing.  Any my gosh! It is still heavy!

The Lumix LX-3 would be the heaviest!

Adidas & Vespa

The collaboration between Adidas and Vespa is set to bring the culture of Italian scooters to life through trendy footwear and apparel.

The concept is carried forward throughout their stores...

Adidas Hongkong Boutique features an interactive wall which allows people to snap their photos together with the vignette "Retro" Vespa interior. Photos are then featured in one of the photo frames on the wall for a period of time.

Found this clip off youTube...

Admittedly, I am a big fan of Vespa & Adidas Originals...Loving this collaborative effort at the moment...

I Luv My Y-3

Technically it is not mine, I ? it but Selwyn ?'s it < 10x with a lot of "!!!" :P

Searching for his new pair of sneakers was not easy. Being the guy that he is (meticulous & ma-arte) and his physical condition (flat footed) - haha don't kill me for saying this - it is really a pain to go shoe shopping.

We must have tried like a thousand pair of sneakers before he finally settled with this Y-3 Yohji Yamamoto pair. I reckon he was sad at that moment in the cashier since he had to pay the $$$ for a pseudo designer pair of sneaks - pseudo because this line was created for Adidas but still carries the Yamamoto price & name - but apart from that he was in his biggest smile.

I like this pair because it is simple, not loud and just right for a weekend stroll around town.

Selwyn in his sartorial look.

Till another shoe hunting trip...that's probably next week! :P

Final Collection: Alexander McQueen

Unveiled at the Paris fashion week, Alexander McQueen's final collection.

The collection referenced Byzantine art and, poignantly, eternity and angels.

I am reminded by how my sister would tailor some clothes from old draperies and her taste in jewelries. Very classic.

R.I.P. Alexander McQueen

I am very saddened about this news, praying for his family during these times.

The fashion world will truly miss a great designer. He is an inspiration to a lot of people. :(

Walter Van Beirendonck F/W 2010

I always believe that the key to successfully convey any creative concept is consistency - drawing all elements back to the big "idea".  Most of the time, we think that if the concept is good - may it be in fashion, graphics or an event, presentation is always secondary to the acceptance of the idea. On the contrary, it is the presentation that ties the whole concept together, making it stronger and tighter - bringing in a better closing to any design idea.

Take a look at Walter Van Beirendonck's "Take a W-Ride" Fall Winter Collection 2010 and discover how he presents his concept from start to end.

I am sure that not everyone will like this collection, but we cannot deny the recall after seeing it.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2010

The weird thing is that everytime I walk into a Marc by Marc Jacobs store, I end up wanting alot of things, and everytime I walk into a Marc Jacobs store, I end up brushing through the collection for less than 10 minutes and walk away with no feelings at all. Same designer, but really different type of approach.

Anyway, I love the Resort 2010 Collection, too bad I cant find the picture of that cute tote bag that I really like.

JP: Nike Flagship Harajuku

Nike recently opened its very first flagship store in Tokyo in the heart of Harajuku - considered as one of the fashion capital of the world renowned for it's unique street fashion.

Explore the huge 946 square meters store like how you would when you visit a museum, I have only seen it through these photos and I am really tempted to personally experience it - It really looks like a section of the Tate Modern. Facilities also includes the Runner’s Studio for selecting shoes that match the individual’s feet and running style and the NIKEiD STUDIO.

Add this to your list of things to do while you are in Tokyo as I would do too, even if you are not a real fan of Nike, I am sure you will be impressed by it somehow!

Thinking about it...I thought Japan is still recovering from recession?

Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2010

Wearable graphic & sporty pre-fall collection. This thing about Nicolas Ghesquière's ability to turn his imaginative concept into reality is a great inspiration to us all, the great challenge is ofcourse, making something very experimental into something very special and easy to wear to which everyone can own and be proud of.

The Sartorialist Book

The long awaited book from Amazon came a few days ago, I was beginning to loose my patience and was really tempted to grab another copy from our local bookstore but have eventually decided to continue waiting.

It's really worth the wait...

Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist Blog has compiled his best works into 1 book. An inspiring collection of photographic images of day-to-day people in their own unique style in fashion. From photo enthusiasts to fashionistas, I am sure you will be able to appreciate the beauty that was captured through the lens of one of the most inspiring fashion photographer of the 21st century.

#1: What's Inside My Bag?

My very first "What's Inside My Bag" post.

Alexander McQueen: Resort 2010

I straight away fell in-love with the Alexander McQueen's Resort 2010 Collection especially the splatter effects, brushstroke and line-drawing prints - inspired by the concept of an artist in his studio.

The blue jeans is just absolutely gorgeous, looks like i can wear it everyday and would not get tired of it, now the problem is saving up a lot of $$$ for a pair and probably loose atleast 5 kgs to perfectly fit into one.

Coincidentally, I visited the Puma Store the other day, I found a pair of sneakers that I am planning to get this weekend. The Puma Alexander McQueen AMQ Vulcanizo. Something to look forward to this weekend!

$$$ Again!
