Mother's Day Breakfast

My first attempt to poach an egg. Failed.  After messing around with atleast 6 eggs, I decided to soft boil it and scoop it our instead!

It's good that I will just be sending my mum this photo since she is miles away, this way she can just appreciate the presentation rather than criticising the actual taste of the dish.

Salmon eggs benedict over bernaise sauce with
mushrooms and caramelised onions.

I shall try poaching again this weekend. I'll make sure I will be ready with my white wine vinegar! Fingers-X!

Pasta, I'm in L.O.V.E.

Here are the 2 after effects of finishing the whole series of Pasta (K-Drama) within less than a week.

1. Wanting to believe that I am not engaged so that I can still marry Lee Sun Gyun (이선균) - and he can be my chef forever! LOL!

2. It was an inspiration for me to cook my own pasta at home. One saturday afternoon, I decided to make my very own Tuna, Mushroom & Tomato Penne for lunch.  I was impressed! Not bad on the first try!

Chilli & garlic on the pan.

There you go, the pasta inspired by Pasta! Buon Appetito!

Tea & Me

I love having tea - both the act of and the actual tea itself.  Flicking through my weekly photos, I noticed that I did TEA a few times within a few days, so I thought I'd compile the moments and share my tea experience here.

Camomile Tea & Chicago Cheesecake
(The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf)

Earl Grey Tea - Dentsu Lobby
(Interesting packaging; Dip the whole stick into the cup)

 Milk Tea with Pearls
(Gong Cha Bubble Tea)

Camomile Tea & Double Choc Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream
(PS. Cafe)

Pu-erh Tea
(Using my mesh ball infuser. Purchased in Edinburgh)

It's sad that I did not visit TWG this week.  Would have been nice to include that here...oh well! :)

Express for Less

Dinner last night was never planned.  Did not have cash at the moment so we had to walk to an ATM machine near Chinatown and near the machine was an old coffeeshop.  There we found the express version of Astons.

The Express Menu Board

 The Tiny Express Kitchen

 Dishwashing Area

Black pepper chicken chop with mashed potato & veggies (S$5.90)

Pork chop with tasty rice & baked potato (S$8.50)

I thought the price was relatively cheap and is comparable to any western stall in a normal foodcourt. I guess this is the price you pay for - given the "coffeeshop" ambiance while sitting next to a bunch of one-leg-up-uncles. It was good nonetheless.

Inside My Bag

My handbag is always heavy, I always try to minimize the things to bring out but it seems like every little thing is an essential. Sigh!

So today, after the morning "I am not bringing this, this & this...", this is what I ended up bringing.  Any my gosh! It is still heavy!

The Lumix LX-3 would be the heaviest!

Cheap Thrills

California Pizza Kitchen (Singapore)

The night was all about having fun while spending less.  For a total of S$25.80,  "5-2-3" & I carbo-loaded ourselves during dinner time - thanks to CPK's 1-for-1 Pizza/Pasta Birthday Promotion.

Waiting...

Chicken and Shrimp Kung Pao Pasta

 Sicilian Thin Pizza

Complementary Birthday Ice Cream

After dinner, we decided to burn the calories by walking home from Orchard Road - aprox 3.17km.  It was a crazy idea but it was fun...now I know it can be done (not that I plan to do it again anytime soon) but it's just good to know - just in case! :)

Indeed a cheap & fun night!

The Crêpe Cravings

I was craving for some French savoury crêpes the night before, and so I tried to make it happen the next day...

Found this restaurant online, apparently serving the most authentic French crêpes in town.

Indoor Dinning Area

Stephane's Favourite (Roasted Chicken,
Caramelised Onions, Wholegrain Mustard)

La Ouessant (Egg, Ham, Emmental Cheese,
Mushrooms with Cream Sauce)

Most authentic? Crêpes or waiters? The girl serving us was French, the owner is French and umm they serve French crêpes.  There you go. You decide.  Food tastes just fine. Going back next week to try the sweets...

Chimp's Kitchen 25.09.10

Today's lunch just before I rush out for my haircut & hair colour...

Grilled Chicken without the grill pan.  I just realised that my grill pan was missing this morning so I had to use my mini wok instead.

Buon Appetito!

To compliment the lovely rainy weather was Olivia Ong's "Olivia" album.

Now I am late for my 3pm appointment.  Got to jet quickly!

Saturday Night Out!

It's a date! - a casual one at Dan Ryan's last Saturday evening. The Chimp was asked to be dressed properly that night so it must be an official date - "No shorts or flip-flops please!"

EGGS, EGGS & EGGS

Mother's Day 2010

For those who love eggs like me, Hatched is the place to be. Choose which egg-mix you prefer from the menu, I am sure there's one perfect for you as the menu offers a good variety of dishes.

It was sad that we could not order from the regular menu at that time as they were only serving from the board menu for Mother's Day.  But in anycase, we were very satisfied with our food.  Definitely going back for the regular menu... the Omelette seems really interesting.

Hot Chocolate

Egg mayo with ham on English Muffin

Scrambled Eggs, Mushrooms, Tomatoes

I know it looks simple... but again, for people who enjoy eggs with every meal like me - HEAVEN.

Chimp's Kitchen: 18.09.10

Today is spring cleaning day.  I do not plan to go out hence I had to cook lunch at home.  Had a little fun while at it...

Today's menu was Spam Salad with Japanese Sesame dressing; Chicken cocktail sausages and fried eggs on the side.

Buon Appetito!

Took some photos while cooking...

And to go along with my meal was...MAD About the Sixties.  Hilarious!
